" How may we assist you? "

Which do you have? ADSL High Speed or Dial Up

Pentel ADSL

We are here to assist you if you happen to have a problem with your ADSL connection. Here are some things that you should try if you are unable to connect to the internet. If you continue to have a problem, please feel free to contact us.

FIRST QUESTION: Do you have a ROUTER?

Yes, I have a Router / No, I do not have a Router

- Check the lights (on the modem that Pentel Net installed):

There are two different modems, make sure that you know the one you have.:

WESTEL WIRESPEED modem: With this modem you will need to see 3 lights. The power light will always be solid. The ready light will flash ONLY when trying to sync up with Pentel Net. The link light is on when the computer is correctly connected to the modem. If any of these are out or blinking you will need to reboot the modem (see below).

D-LINK modem: On this modem there 5 lights, which you are to have 4 at all times. The lights are POWER, STATUS, ADSL, & ETHERNET. If for any reason one of these lights are not on, you need to reboot the modem (see below).

- Reboot the Modem:

There are two different modems, make sure you know the one you have.

WESTEL WIRESPEED modem: There is a toggle switch on the back of the modem. Turn it off, wait about 15 seconds (for modem to drop sync) then turn it back on. The power light will come on solid right away; the ready light will start blinking - blink faster - then go solid; and the link light will be solid right away (if this light doesn't come on check the cord to the computer). If for any reason one of these lights do not come on, please contact Pentel Net at 231-223-4210.

D-LINK modem: There is NOT a toggle switch on this modem, so you will need to find the cord with the verbage of 9V AC 1A. When you have found it, you will need to unplug it, wait about 15 seconds (for modem to drop sync) then turn it back on. The power light will come on solid right away; the status light will blink slowly; the adsl light will start blinking - blink faster - then go solid; and the ethernet will be solid right away (if this light doesn't come on check the cord to the computer). If for any reason one of these lights do not come on, please contact Pentel Net at 231-223-4210.

Turn OFF both the Modem and Router. You will need to turn them on in a specific order. First the modem, then the router - follow directions below.

WESTEL WIRESPEED modem: There is a toggle switch on the back of the modem. Turn it off, wait about 15 seconds (for modem to drop sync) then turn it back on. After you have done this and the ready light is solid, turn on/plug in the router. If the ready light does not come back solid, please contact Pentel Net at 231-223-4210.

Pentel Dial Up

We are here to assist you if you having a problem with your connection. Here are some things that you should try if you are unable to connect to the internet. If you continue to have a problem, please feel free to contact us.

1. Make sure the phone cord is securely plugged into the wall jack, and into the back of your computer.

2. Check that all phone extensions are correctly placed on their craddle.

3. If you have voicemail on your line, make sure that you check your new messages before trying to use the dial up. The modem will not except the studder tone as a dial tone, with that you will receive an error message.

4. If you have call waiting, you may loose your connection when a call is coming in. You can stop call waiting for the time you are on the internet by having it dial *70 before it dials the number for your internet service. This is cancel call waiting, this feature is only active for the current phone call you are making. Once you hang up your call waiting is active again.
