Adding a New Mail Account in Outlook Express

To create a new Outlook Express mail account, follow the directions below.

* Open your Outlook Express email program.

* Click onto the Tools menu at the top and select Accounts.

* The box titled Internet Accounts will pop up, click onto the Mail tab at the top of the box, then click the add button on the top right and select Mail.

* Type in your name as you want it to appear on your outgoing emails.

* Click Next.

* Check that you have selected I already have an email address that I'd like to use.
* Type in your Pentel Net email address. For new users this is your username with @pentel.net after it. If you have an email alias you can specify it as your email address, in place of your main email address which you may want to keep private from potential spammers.

* Click Next.

* Check that My incoming mail server is set to POP3.

* Type in mail.pentel.net for the Incoming mail server.

* Type in mail.pentel.net for the Outgoing mail server.

* Click Next.

* Type in your Pentel Net username where it says Account name.

* Type in your password in the next box.

* If the password box is greyed out then put a check in the Remember Password box so that you can type in your password (doing this also allows you to not have to log in to your mail box every time).

Please check that the username you type in is in all lowercase. The password you type in shows up as a bunch of stars for privacy.

* Click Next.

* Now Click Finish.

* You should now see an account called mail.pentel.net in the box.

* Click Close at the bottom right of the Internet Accounts box.

* This should take us back to your Inbox.

* Click on the Tools menu and then select Options.

* Click the Connection tab at the top of the window.

* For dial up connections, if you want your phone line to be free after you check your email, put a check in the box next to Hang up after sending and receiving. Otherwise, make sure that this is not selected so you do not get disconnected.

* Click OK.

* Close Outlook Express.

When you restart Outlook Express by you should be all set to use it for sending and receiving email.
