Adding a New Mail Account
in Outlook Express
To create a new Outlook Express mail account, follow the
directions below.
* Open your Outlook Express email program.
* Click onto the Tools menu at the top and
select Accounts.
* The box titled Internet Accounts will pop up, click onto
the Mail tab at the top of the box, then
click the add button on the top right and
select Mail.
* Type in your name as you want it to appear on your outgoing
emails.
* Click Next.
* Check that you have selected I already have an
email address that I'd like to use.
* Type in your Pentel Net email address. For new users this
is your username with @pentel.net
after it. If you have an email alias you can specify it as
your email address, in place of your main email address which
you may want to keep private from potential spammers.
* Click Next.
* Check that My incoming mail server is set to POP3.
* Type in mail.pentel.net for the Incoming
mail server.
* Type in mail.pentel.net for the Outgoing
mail server.
* Click Next.
* Type in your Pentel Net username where
it says Account name.
* Type in your password in the next box.
* If the password box is greyed out then put a check
in the Remember Password box so that you
can type in your password (doing this also allows you to not
have to log in to your mail box every time).
Please check that the username you type in is in
all lowercase. The password you type in shows up as a bunch
of stars for privacy.
* Click Next.
* Now Click Finish.
* You should now see an account called mail.pentel.net in
the box.
* Click Close at the bottom right of the Internet Accounts
box.
* This should take us back to your Inbox.
* Click on the Tools menu and then select Options.
* Click the Connection tab at the top of the window.
* For dial up connections, if you want your phone line to
be free after you check your email, put a check in the box
next to Hang up after sending and receiving. Otherwise, make
sure that this is not selected so you do not get disconnected.
* Click OK.
* Close Outlook Express.
When you restart Outlook Express by you should be all set
to use it for sending and receiving email.
