If you are having trouble
connecting to the internet first, look at the
lights on the router. The following is what they
should be:
POWER should be solid
If it’s off then plug the power into the
modem.
STATUS should be flashing
If it’s solid it means that the modem hasn’t
loaded the firmware OR it’s locked up. Simply
turn the modem off then back on again after 5
seconds.
ADSL should be solid
If it’s flashing you do not have line sync.
Try unplugging all phones/filters in your house
and just run a cable directly to your modem from
the wall socket to eliminate the possibility of
another phone device causing an issue. If that
doesn’t work try another phone socket to
eliminate the possibility of a faulty phone socket.
ETHERNET or USB
should be flashing (sometimes)
Also check the Ethernet cards indicator lights
If it’s not on at all check that the cable
is plugged in. Perhaps it’s the wrong cable?
You need a NON crossover cable. (Usually blue).
If it still is not on, is the onboard network
card even enabled in the bios? This is usually
a problem with the network card itself if the
ETHERNET light doesn’t come on.
To set up:
Step 1: log into the router
using your WEB browser: type http://10.1.1.1 in
the address bar and press Enter. The router login
prompt should come up. Enter username 'admin'
and password 'admin' (default setting).
Step 2: Click on Home tab and
then on WAN on the left side of the screen.
Step 3: Select PPPoE/PPPoA option.
Step 4: Under Connection Type
select 'PPPoE LLC' in the drop-down menu.
Step 5: Enter username and your
password.
Step 6: Click on Apply. To save
the settings into the router's memory go to Tools
> [System] > Save and Reboot.
Give the router a minute or two to reboot and
reconnect. Restart your computer and you should
be able to access the Internet.
You do not have to run any login client on any
of your computers because your router logs to
into Pentel Net automatically.
