How To: Setup your email address in Windows Vista Mail

Windows Vista Mail: Setting up Email for the First Time

Step 1: Open Windows Vista Mail
Step 2: In the "Tools" menu select "Accounts"

Step 3: Click on the "Add" button.

Step 4: Make sure “E-mail Account” is selected, and then click on "Next"

Step 5: Enter your Name, and then click on "Next"

Step 6: Enter your full email address, then click "Next"

Step 7: Make sure the "Incoming e-mail server type" is "POP3".
Step 8: Enter "mail.pentel.net" as your "Incoming mail server" and "Outgoing e-mail server" addresses.
Step 9: Click on the check box "Outgoing server requires authentication."
Step 10: Click on the "Next" button.

Step 11: Enter your logon name and password. Your logon is the first part of your email address, e.g. "demonstration" of "demonstration@pentel.net."
Step 12: Click on the "Next" button.

Step 13: Click on the "Finish" button.


Windows Vista Mail: Checking Existing Email Settings

Step 1: Open Windows Vista Mail
Step 2: In the "Tools" menu select "Accounts."

Step 3: Make sure "youremail@pentel.net" is selected, then click the
"Properties" button, e.g. "demonstration@pentel.net."

Step 4: Click on the "Servers" tab.

Step 5: Make sure your email settings are as follows:

  • E-mail username: If your email address is "demonstration@pentel.net" your username is "demonstration."
  • Password
  • Incoming mail server (POP3): "mail.pentel.net."
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): "mail.pentel.net."
  • Click the "My server requires authentication" checkbox.
